Saul yn cyfarfod Samuel
1Roedd yna ddyn yn perthyn i lwyth Benjamin o'r enw Cish. Roedd yn ddyn pwysig; yn fab i Abiel, mab Seror, mab Becorath, mab Affeia. 2Roedd gan Cish ei hun fab o'r enw Saul, oedd yn ddyn ifanc arbennig iawn. Doedd neb tebyg iddo yn Israel gyfan. Roedd yn dalach na phawb arall. 3Roedd rhai o asennod Cish, tad Saul, wedi mynd ar goll. A dyma Cish yn dweud wrth Saul, “Cymer un o'r gweision hefo ti, a dos i chwilio am yr asennod.” 4Felly dyma Saul a'r gwas yn croesi bryniau Effraim drwy ardal Shalisha, ond methu dod o hyd iddyn nhw. Ymlaen wedyn drwy ardal Shaalîm, ac yna drwy ardal Benjamin, ond dal i fethu dod o hyd iddyn nhw. 5Pan ddaethon nhw i ardal Swff, dyma Saul yn dweud wrth y gwas, “Well i ni fynd yn ôl adre. Bydd dad wedi anghofio am yr asennod a dechrau poeni amdanon ni.” 6Ond meddai'r gwas wrtho, “Mae yna ddyn sy'n proffwydo ▼▼9:6 ddyn sy'n proffwydo Hebraeg, “dyn Duw”
yn byw y dre acw. Mae parch mawr ato, am fod popeth mae'n ei ddweud yn dod yn wir. Gad i ni fynd i'w weld e. Falle y bydd e'n gallu dweud wrthon ni pa ffordd i fynd.” 7“Iawn,” meddai Saul, “ond be rown ni iddo? Does gynnon ni ddim bwyd ar ôl hyd yn oed, a dim byd arall i'w gynnig iddo.” 8Dyma'r gwas yn dweud, “Edrych mae gen i un darn arian bach ▼▼9:8 darn arian bach Hebraeg, “Chwarter sicl” (dim mwy na 3 gram).
– dydy e'n ddim llawer, ond gwna i roi hwn i'r proffwyd am ddweud wrthon ni ble i fynd.” 9(Ers talwm, pan oedd rhywun yn Israel yn mynd i ofyn cyngor Duw, roedden nhw'n dweud: “Dewch i ni fynd at y gweledydd.” Gweledydd oedden nhw'n galw proffwyd bryd hynny.) 10Atebodd Saul ei was, “Gwych! Tyrd, gad i ni fynd.” Felly dyma nhw'n mynd i'r dre lle roedd proffwyd Duw. 11Wrth fynd i fyny'r allt at y dre dyma nhw'n cyfarfod merched ifanc yn mynd i nôl dŵr. A dyma ofyn iddyn nhw, “Ydy'r gweledydd yma?” 12“Ydy,” meddai'r merched, “yn syth o'ch blaen acw. Ond rhaid i chi frysio. Mae e newydd gyrraedd y dre am fod y bobl am gyflwyno aberth ar yr allor leol heddiw. 13Os ewch i mewn i'r dre, byddwch yn ei ddal e cyn iddo fynd at yr allor i fwyta. Fydd y bobl ddim yn bwyta cyn iddo fe gyrraedd, am fod rhaid iddo fendithio'r aberth. Dim ond wedyn y bydd y rhai sydd wedi cael eu gwahodd yn bwyta. Os ewch chi nawr, byddwch chi'n dod o hyd iddo'n syth.” 14Aeth y ddau i fyny i'r dre. Ac wrth fynd i mewn dyna lle roedd Samuel yn dod i'w cyfarfod. Roedd e ar ei ffordd i'r allor leol. 15Roedd yr Arglwydd wedi dweud wrth Samuel y diwrnod cynt fod Saul yn mynd i ddod yno: 16“Tua'r adeg yma fory, dw i'n mynd i anfon dyn o lwyth Benjamin atat ti. Dw i eisiau i ti ei eneinio fe i arwain fy mhobl Israel. Bydd e'n achub fy mhobl o afael y Philistiaid. Dw i wedi bod yn gwylio fy mhobl, ac wedi eu clywed nhw'n galw am help.” 17Pan welodd Samuel Saul, dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud wrtho, “Dacw'r dyn wnes i ddweud wrthot ti amdano. Fe sy'n mynd i arwain fy mhobl i.” 18Roedden nhw wrth giât y ddinas, a dyma Saul yn gofyn i Samuel, “Alli di ddweud wrtho i ble mae'r gweledydd yn byw?” 19“Fi ydy'r gweledydd,” meddai Samuel wrtho. “Dos o'm blaen at yr allor. Cewch chi'ch dau fwyta gyda mi heddiw, wedyn fory cei fynd ar dy ffordd ar ôl i mi ddweud am bopeth sy'n dy boeni di. 20Paid poeni am yr asennod sydd wedi bod ar goll ers tridiau. Maen nhw wedi dod o hyd iddyn nhw. Pwy wyt ti'n feddwl mae Israel i gyd yn dyheu amdano? Ie, ti ydy e, a theulu dy dad.” 21Ond dyma Saul yn ateb, “Sut mae hynny'n bosib? I lwyth Benjamin dw i'n perthyn, y llwyth lleiaf yn Israel! Ac mae fy nheulu i yn un o deuluoedd mwyaf cyffredin Benjamin. Pam wyt ti'n dweud peth felly wrtho i?” 22Yna dyma Samuel yn mynd â Saul a'i was i'r neuadd fwyta, a rhoi'r seddi gorau iddyn nhw ar ben y bwrdd. Roedd yna tua tri deg o bobl wedi eu gwahodd i gyd. 23Wedyn dyma Samuel yn dweud wrth y cogydd, “Dos i nôl y darn yna o gig wnes i ddweud wrthot ti am ei gadw o'r neilltu.” 24A dyma'r cogydd yn dod â darn uchaf y goes ▼▼9:24 darn uchaf y goes Dyma'r darn sbesial oedd i fod i'r offeiriaid – gw. Lefiticus 10:14-15

Bwyta fe, achos pan o'n i'n gwahodd pobl yma, dwedais fod hwn i gael ei gadw ar dy gyfer di.” Felly dyma Saul yn bwyta gyda Samuel y diwrnod hwnnw. 25Wedi iddyn nhw ddod yn ôl o'r allor i'r dre, buodd Samuel yn siarad yn breifat gyda Saul ar do fflat y tŷ. 26Ben bore wedyn, pan oedd hi'n gwawrio, dyma Samuel yn galw ar Saul, oedd ar y to: “Cod, i mi dy anfon di ar dy ffordd.” Felly dyma Saul yn codi, a dyma fe a'i was yn mynd allan hefo Samuel. 27Pan ddaethon nhw i gyrion y dre, dyma Samuel yn dweud wrth Saul, “Dywed wrth dy was am fynd yn ei flaen. Dw i eisiau i ti aros i mi roi neges gan Dduw i ti.”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
