1 Samuel 4
1A byddai Samuel yn rhannu'r neges gydag Israel gyfan.Y Philistiaid yn dwyn yr Arch
Dyma Israel yn mynd i ryfel yn erbyn y Philistiaid. Roedden nhw'n gwersylla yn Ebeneser, tra roedd y Philistiaid yn gwersylla yn Affec ▼▼4:1 Ebeneser … Affec Roedd Ebeneser tua 2 filltir i'r dwyrain o Affec.
. 2Dyma'r Philistiaid yn trefnu eu byddin yn rhengoedd. Dechreuodd yr ymladd, a dyma Israel yn colli. Cafodd tua pedair mil o'u dynion eu lladd. 3Pan ddaeth gweddill y fyddin yn ôl i'r gwersyll, dyma arweinwyr Israel yn dechrau holi, “Pam wnaeth yr Arglwydd adael i'r Philistiaid ein curo ni? Gadewch i ni ddod ag Arch Ymrwymiad yr Arglwydd yma aton ni o Seilo. Os bydd hi'n mynd gyda ni, bydd yn ein hachub ni o afael y gelyn!” 4Felly dyma nhw'n anfon i Seilo i nôl Arch Ymrwymiad yr Arglwydd holl-bwerus, sy'n eistedd uwch ben y ceriwbiaid. Roedd meibion Eli, Hoffni a Phineas, yno gyda'r Arch. 5Pan gyrhaeddodd Arch Ymrwymiad yr Arglwydd y gwersyll, dyma pawb yn bloeddio gweiddi mor uchel roedd fel petai'r ddaear yn crynu! 6Pan glywodd y Philistiaid y sŵn, dyma nhw'n holi, “Pam maen nhw'n bloeddio fel yna yng ngwersyll yr Hebreaid?” Yna dyma nhw'n sylweddoli fod Arch yr Arglwydd wedi dod i'r gwersyll. 7Roedden nhw wedi dychryn am eu bywydau. “Mae hi ar ben arnon ni,” medden nhw. “Mae'r duwiau wedi dod i'w gwersyll nhw. Does dim byd fel yma wedi digwydd o'r blaen. 8Mae hi ar ben arnon ni go iawn. Pwy sy'n mynd i'n hachub ni o afael y duwiau cryfion yma? Dyma'r duwiau wnaeth daro'r Eifftiaid mor ofnadwy yn yr anialwch. 9Philistiaid, rhaid i chi fod yn ddewr! Byddwch yn ddynion! Neu byddwch chi'n mynd yn gaeth i'r Hebreaid fel buon nhw yn gaeth i chi. Byddwch yn ddynion, ac ymladd!” 10Felly dyma'r Philistiaid yn ymosod ar Israel. Collodd Israel y frwydr, a dyma'r fyddin i gyd yn dianc am adre. Roedd lladdfa fawr. Cafodd tua tri deg mil o filwyr traed Israel eu lladd. 11Cafodd Arch Duw ei chipio hefyd, a cafodd Hoffni a Phineas, meibion Eli, eu lladd. b Eli yn marw
12Dyma ddyn o lwyth Benjamin yn rhedeg o'r frwydr a chyrraedd Seilo yr un diwrnod ▼▼4:12 a chyrraedd … diwrnod Pellter o 18 milltir.
. Roedd wedi rhwygo ei ddillad a rhoi pridd ar ei ben. 13Pan gyrhaeddodd Seilo, roedd Eli'n eistedd ar gadair wrth ymyl y ffordd yn disgwyl am newyddion. Roedd yn poeni'n fawr am Arch Duw. Daeth y dyn i'r dre a pan ddwedodd beth oedd wedi digwydd dyma pawb yn dechrau wylo yn uchel. 14Pan glywodd Eli yr holl sŵn, gofynnodd, “Beth ydy'r holl gyffro yna?” Yna dyma'r dyn yn brysio draw i ddweud yr hanes wrth Eli 15(oedd yn naw deg wyth mlwydd oed ac yn ddall.) 16“Dw i wedi dianc o'r frwydr,” meddai'r dyn, “gwnes i ddianc oddi yno heddiw.” “Sut aeth pethau, machgen i?” holodd Eli. 17A dyma'r negesydd yn ateb, “Mae Israel wedi ffoi o flaen y Philistiaid, ac mae llawer iawn wedi cael eu lladd. Mae dy ddau fab di, Hoffni a Phineas, wedi eu lladd, ac mae Arch Duw wedi cael ei chipio.” 18Pan glywodd Eli am Arch Duw syrthiodd wysg ei gefn oddi ar ei gadair wrth ymyl y giât. Am ei fod mor hen, ac yn ddyn mawr trwm, torrodd ei wddf a marw. Roedd wedi arwain Israel am bedwar deg o flynyddoedd. Ichabod
19Roedd ei ferch-yng-nghyfraith, gwraig Phineas, yn disgwyl plentyn ac yn agos iawn i'w hamser. Pan glywodd hi'r newyddion fod Arch Duw wedi ei chipio a bod ei thad-yng-nghyfraith a'i gŵr wedi marw, plygodd yn ei dyblau am fod y plentyn yn dechrau dod. Ond roedd y poenau yn ormod iddi. 20Pan oedd hi ar fin marw, dwedodd y merched oedd gyda hi, “Paid bod ag ofn, rwyt ti wedi cael mab!” Ond wnaeth hi ddim ymateb na chymryd unrhyw sylw. 21A dyma hi'n rhoi'r enw Ichabod ▼▼4:21,22 Ichabod Ystyr Ichabod ydy “Ble mae'r ysblander?”
i'r babi. “Mae ysblander Duw wedi gadael Israel,” meddai (am fod Arch Duw wedi ei chipio a'i thad-yng-nghyfraith a'i gŵr wedi marw.) 22“Mae ysblander Duw wedi gadael Israel, achos mae Arch Duw wedi ei chipio,” meddai.
