Dafydd a'i filwyr yn amddiffyn tref Ceila
1Clywodd Dafydd fod y Philistiaid wedi ymosod ar Ceila ▼▼23:1 Ceila Tref rhyw dair milltir i'r de o Adwlam
, ac yn dwyn ŷd o'r lloriau dyrnu. 2A dyma fe'n gofyn am arweiniad yr Arglwydd, “Ddylwn i fynd i ymosod ar y Philistiaid yma?” A dyma'r Arglwydd yn ateb, “Ie, dos. Ymosod ar y Philistiaid ac achub Ceila.” 3Ond dyma ddynion Dafydd yn dweud wrtho, “Mae arnon ni ddigon o ofn yma yn Jwda! Sut fydd hi os awn ni i Ceila i ymladd yn erbyn byddin y Philistiaid?” 4Aeth Dafydd i ofyn i'r Arglwydd eto. A dyma'r Arglwydd yn rhoi'r un ateb iddo, “Cod, a dos i lawr i Ceila, achos bydda i'n gwneud i ti ennill y frwydr yn erbyn y Philistiad.” 5Felly dyma Dafydd a'i ddynion yn mynd i Ceila ac ymladd yn erbyn y Philistiaid, a dwyn eu gwartheg nhw. Roedd lladdfa ofnadwy, ond llwyddodd Dafydd i achub pobl Ceila. 6Pan oedd Abiathar, mab Achimelech, wedi dianc at Dafydd, roedd wedi dod ag effod gydag e. 7Clywodd Saul fod Dafydd wedi dod i Ceila, a dwedodd, “Mae Duw wedi ei roi e yn fy nwylo i! Mae e wedi cau ei hun mewn trap drwy fynd i dref sydd â giatiau dwbl a barrau i'w cloi.” 8Felly dyma Saul yn galw ei fyddin gyfan at ei gilydd, i fynd i Ceila i warchae ar Dafydd a'i ddynion. 9Pan glywodd Dafydd fod Saul yn cynllunio i ymosod arno, dyma fe'n galw ar Abiathar yr offeiriad, “Tyrd â'r effod yma.” 10Yna dyma fe'n gweddïo: “O Arglwydd, Duw Israel, dw i wedi clywed fod Saul yn bwriadu dod yma i Ceila i ddinistrio'r dre am fy mod i yma. 11Fydd awdurdodau'r dre yn fy rhoi yn ei ddwylo? Ydy Saul wir yn dod i lawr, fel dw i wedi clywed? O Arglwydd, Duw Israel, plîs ateb dy was.” A dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud, “Ydy, mae e yn dod.” 12A dyma Dafydd yn gofyn, “Fydd awdurdodau Ceila yn fy rhoi i a'm dynion i Saul?” A dyma'r Arglwydd yn ateb, “Byddan.” 13Felly dyma Dafydd a'i ddynion (tua 600 ohonyn nhw i gyd) yn gadael Ceila ar unwaith. Roedden nhw'n symud o le i le. Pan glywodd Saul fod Dafydd wedi dianc o Ceila, dyma fe'n rhoi'r gorau i'w fwriad i ymosod ar y dre. Dafydd yn cuddio yn y bryniau

. Roedd Saul yn chwilio amdano trwy'r amser. Ond wnaeth Duw ddim gadael iddo ei ddal. 15Pan oedd Dafydd yn Horesh yn anialwch Siff, roedd ganddo ofn am fod Saul wedi dod yno i geisio ei ladd e. 16Dyma Jonathan, mab Saul, yn mynd draw i Horesh at Dafydd i'w annog i drystio Duw. 17Dwedodd wrtho, “Paid bod ag ofn! Fydd fy nhad Saul ddim yn dod o hyd i ti. Ti fydd brenin Israel a bydda i'n ddirprwy i ti. Mae dad yn gwybod hyn yn iawn.” 18Ar ôl i'r ddau ymrwymo o flaen yr Arglwydd i fod yn ffyddlon i'w gilydd, dyma Dafydd yn aros yn Horesh ac aeth Jonathan adre. 19Aeth rhai o bobl Siff at Saul i Gibea a dweud wrtho, “Wyt ti'n gwybod fod Dafydd yn cuddio wrth ein hymyl ni? Mae yn y cuddfannau wrth Horesh, ar Fryn Hachila i'r de o Jeshimon. ▼▼23:19 Jeshimon Lle yn yr anialwch wrth ymyl ffin ddeheuol Jwda.
20Tyrd i lawr pryd bynnag wyt ti eisiau, O frenin. Awn ni'n gyfrifol am ei roi e yn dy afael di.” 21“Dych chi wedi bod yn garedig iawn ata i. Bendith yr Arglwydd arnoch chi!” meddai Saul. 22“Ewch i baratoi. Gwnewch yn siŵr ble mae e, a pwy sydd wedi ei weld e yno. Maen nhw'n dweud i mi ei fod yn un cyfrwys. 23Ffeindiwch allan lle yn union mae e'n cuddio. Pan fyddwch chi'n berffaith siŵr, dewch yn ôl ata i, a bydda i'n dod gyda chi. Bydda i yn dod o hyd iddo ble bynnag mae e yng nghanol pobl Jwda i gyd.” 24Felly dyma nhw'n mynd yn ôl i Siff, o flaen Saul. Roedd Dafydd a'i ddynion yn anialwch Maon ▼▼23:24 Maon Tua pedair milltir a hanner i'r de o Siff.

Ond dyma Dafydd yn cael gwybod, ac aeth i lawr i le o'r enw Y Graig, ac aros yno yn anialwch Maon. 26Clywodd Saul am hyn ac aeth ar ôl Dafydd i anialwch Maon. Roedd Saul un ochr i'r mynydd pan oedd Dafydd a'i ddynion yr ochr arall. Roedd Dafydd yn brysio i geisio osgoi Saul, ond roedd Saul a'i filwyr ar fin amgylchynu Dafydd a'i ddynion a'i dal nhw. 27Ond yna daeth neges yn dweud wrth Saul am frysio'n ôl adre am fod y Philistiaid wedi ymosod ar y wlad. 28Felly roedd rhaid i Saul stopio mynd ar ôl Dafydd a mynd i ymladd yn erbyn y Philistiaid. (Dyna pam mae'r lle yn cael ei alw yn Graig y Gwahanu.) 29Yna aeth Dafydd i fyny oddi yno ac aros mewn lle saff yn En-gedi ▼▼23:29 En-gedi Gwerddon ar lan y Môr Marw, tua un deg wyth milltir i'r de-ddwyrain o Hebron, a heb fod yn bell o Masada.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
