1 Samuel 16
Yr Arglwydd yn dewis Dafydd yn frenin
1Dyma'r Arglwydd yn gofyn i Samuel, “Am faint wyt ti'n mynd i ddal i deimlo'n drist am Saul? Dw i wedi ei wrthod e fel brenin ar Israel. Llenwa gorn gydag olew olewydd a dos i Bethlehem at ddyn o'r enw Jesse. Dw i wedi dewis un o'i feibion e i fod yn frenin i mi.” 2Atebodd Samuel, “Sut alla i wneud hynny? Os bydd Saul yn clywed am y peth bydd e'n fy lladd i!” “Dos â heffer gyda ti,” meddai'r Arglwydd, “a dweud, ‘Dw i'n mynd i aberthu i'r Arglwydd.’ 3Gwahodd Jesse i'r aberth, a gwna i ddangos i ti pa un o'i feibion i'w eneinio gyda'r olew.” 4Gwnaeth Samuel fel roedd Duw wedi dweud, a mynd i Fethlehem. Ond roedd arweinwyr y dre yn nerfus iawn pan welon nhw e. Dyma nhw'n gofyn iddo, “Wyt ti'n dod yn heddychlon?” 5“Ydw”, meddai Samuel, “yn heddychlon. Dw i'n dod i aberthu i'r Arglwydd. Ewch trwy'r ddefod o buro eich hunain, a dewch gyda mi i'r aberth.” Yna dyma fe'n arwain Jesse a'i feibion drwy'r ddefod o gysegru eu hunain, a'i gwahodd nhw i'r aberth. 6Pan gyrhaeddon nhw, sylwodd Samuel ar Eliab a meddwl, “Dw i'n siŵr mai hwnna ydy'r un mae'r Arglwydd wedi ei ddewis yn frenin.” 7Ond dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud wrtho, “Paid cymryd sylw o pa mor olygus ydy e neu pa mor dal ydy e. Dw i ddim wedi ei ddewis e. Dydy Duw ddim yn edrych ar bethau yr un fath ac mae pobl. Mae pobl yn edrych ar y tu allan, ond mae'r Arglwydd yn edrych ar sut berson ydy e go iawn.” 8Yna dyma Jesse yn galw Abinadab, i Samuel gael ei weld e. Ond dyma Samuel yn dweud, “Dim hwn mae'r Arglwydd wedi ei ddewis chwaith.” 9Felly dyma Jesse yn dod â Shamma ato. Ond dyma Samuel yn dweud, “Dim hwn mae'r Arglwydd wedi ei ddewis chwaith.” 10Dyma Jesse'n dod â saith o'i feibion at Samuel yn eu tro. Ond dyma Samuel yn dweud wrtho, “Dydy'r Arglwydd ddim wedi dewis run o'r rhain.” 11Dyma Samuel yn holi Jesse, “Ai dyma dy fechgyn di i gyd?” “Na,” meddai Jesse, “Mae'r lleiaf ar ôl. Mae e'n gofalu am y defaid.” “Anfon rhywun i'w nôl e,” meddai Samuel. “Wnawn ni ddim byd arall nes bydd e wedi cyrraedd.” 12Felly dyma Jesse'n anfon amdano. Roedd yn fachgen iach yr olwg gyda llygaid hardd – bachgen golygus iawn. A dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud, “Tyrd! Hwn ydy e! Eneinia fe â'r olew.” a 13Felly dyma Samuel yn tywallt yr olew ar ben Dafydd o flaen ei frodyr i gyd. Daeth Ysbryd yr Arglwydd yn rymus ar Dafydd o'r diwrnod hwnnw ymlaen. Wedyn dyma Samuel yn mynd yn ôl adre i Rama.Dafydd yn canu'r delyn i Saul
14Roedd Ysbryd yr Arglwydd wedi gadael Saul. A dyma'r Arglwydd yn anfon ysbryd drwg i'w boeni. 15Dyma ei swyddogion yn dweud wrtho, “Mae'n amlwg fod Duw wedi anfon ysbryd drwg i dy boeni di. 16Syr, beth am i ni, dy weision, fynd i chwilio am rywun sy'n canu'r delyn ▼▼16:16 telyn Nid telyn fel y gwyddom ni amdani oedd yr offeryn yma, ond telyn fach hirsgwar oedd yn cael ei dal gan y llaw chwith yn erbyn y frest.
yn dda? Wedyn, pan fydd Duw yn anfon yr ysbryd drwg arnat ti, bydd e'n canu'r delyn ac yn gwneud i ti deimlo'n well.” 17Felly dyma Saul yn ateb, “Iawn, ewch i ffeindio rhywun sy'n canu'r delyn yn dda, a dewch ag e yma.” 18Dyma un o'r dynion ifanc yn dweud, “Dw i'n gwybod am fab i Jesse o Fethlehem sy'n dda ar y delyn. Mae e'n filwr dewr, yn siaradwr da, mae'n fachgen golygus ac mae'r Arglwydd gydag e.” 19Dyma Saul yn anfon neges at Jesse, “Anfon dy fab Dafydd ata i, yr un sydd gyda'r defaid.” 20Felly dyma Jesse'n llwytho asyn gyda bara, potel groen yn llawn o win, a gafr ifanc, a'u hanfon gyda'i fab Dafydd at Saul. 21Daeth Dafydd i weithio i Saul. Roedd Saul yn ei hoffi'n fawr, a rhoddodd y cyfrifoldeb o gario'i arfau iddo. 22Yna dyma Saul yn anfon at Jesse i ofyn, “Gad i Dafydd aros yma i fod yn was i mi. Dw i'n hapus iawn gydag e.” 23Felly, pan fyddai Duw yn anfon ysbryd drwg ar Saul, byddai Dafydd yn nôl ei delyn a'i chanu. Byddai hynny'n tawelu Saul a gwneud iddo deimlo'n well. Yna byddai'r ysbryd drwg yn gadael llonydd iddo.
