1Llythyr gan Pedr, cynrychiolydd personol Iesu Grist. Atoch chi sydd wedi'ch dewis gan Dduw i fod yn bobl iddo'i hun. Chi sy'n byw ar wasgar drwy daleithiau Rhufeinig Pontus, Galatia, Capadocia, Asia a Bithynia, er mai dim dyna'ch cartref go iawn chi. 2Cawsoch eich dewis ymlaen llaw gan Dduw y Tad, a'ch cysegru gan yr Ysbryd Glân i fod yn bobl ufudd i Iesu Grist, wedi'ch glanhau trwy ▼▼1:2 glanhau trwy: Mae'r Groeg yn dweud “taenellu â'i”. Mae'n cyfeirio at y ddefod yn yr Hen Destament pan oedd gwaed yr aberth yn cael ei daenellu ar y bobl i'w glanhau nhw o'u pechod – gw. Hebreaid 9:18-21.

3Clod i Dduw a Thad ein Harglwydd Iesu Grist! Mae wedi bod mor drugarog aton ni. Mae'n ddechrau cwbl newydd! Dŷn ni wedi cael ein geni unwaith eto! Ac am ei fod wedi codi Iesu Grist yn ôl yn fyw dŷn ni'n edrych ymlaen yn hyderus i'r dyfodol. 4Mae gan Dduw etifeddiaeth i'w rhannu gyda'i blant – un fydd byth yn darfod, nac yn difetha nac yn diflannu. Mae'n ei chadw ar eich cyfer chi yn y nefoedd! 5Bydd y Duw nerthol yn eich amddiffyn chi nes byddwch chi'n cael eich achub yn derfynol, am eich bod chi'n credu ynddo. Bydd pawb yn gweld hynny'n digwydd pan fydd y foment olaf yn cyrraedd a'r byd yn dod i ben. 6Felly gallwch fod yn llawen, er bod pethau'n anodd ar hyn o bryd, a'ch bod chi'n gorfod dioddef pob math o dreialon. 7Mae'r pethau yma'n digwydd er mwyn dangos eich bod chi'n credu go iawn. Mae'r un fath â'r broses o buro aur mewn ffwrnais, ond bod ffydd yn rhywbeth llawer mwy gwerthfawr nag aur. Byddwch yn derbyn canmoliaeth, ysblander ac anrhydedd pan fydd Iesu Grist yn dod i'r golwg eto. 8Dych chi erioed wedi gweld Iesu, ac eto dych chi'n ei garu e. Dych chi'n credu ynddo er eich bod chi ddim yn ei weld ar hyn o bryd. A dych chi wedi'ch llenwi â rhyw lawenydd cwbl wefreiddiol sy'n amhosib i'w ddisgrifio. 9Canlyniad credu ynddo yn y pen draw ydy y byddwch chi'n cael eich achub yn derfynol! 10Roedd y proffwydi'n sôn am yr achubiaeth oedd i'w rhoi yn rhodd i chi. Buon nhw'n edrych yn fanwl i'r cwbl, ond heb ddeall popeth. 11Roedd yr Ysbryd oedd gyda nhw wedi dweud wrthyn nhw ymlaen llaw am beth fyddai'r Meseia yn ei ddioddef ac am yr holl bethau ffantastig fyddai'n digwydd wedyn. Ond beth yn union oedd Ysbryd y Meseia'n cyfeirio ato? Pryd fyddai'r cwbl yn digwydd? 12Esboniwyd iddyn nhw fod y pethau hynny ddim yn mynd i ddigwydd yn eu cyfnod nhw, ond yn y dyfodol, yn ein cyfnod ni. A bellach mae'r cwbl wedi ei rannu gyda chi gan y rhai sydd wedi dod â'r newyddion da i chi, gyda nerth yr Ysbryd Glân gafodd ei anfon o'r nefoedd. Mae'r angylion hyd yn oed yn ysu am gael deall y pethau hyn yn well.Byddwch yn sanctaidd
13Felly, byddwch yn barod a gwyliwch sut ydych chi'n ymddwyn. Rhowch eich gobaith yn llwyr yn y rhodd sy'n dod i chi ar y diwrnod pan fydd Iesu Grist yn dod i'r golwg eto. 14Byddwch yn ufudd i Dduw am eich bod yn blant iddo. Stopiwch ddilyn y chwantau oedd i'w gweld ynoch chi cyn i chi ddod i wybod y gwir. 15Na, rhaid i chi fod yn wahanol. Rhaid i'ch ymddygiad chi fod yn berffaith lân, yn union fel mae Duw sydd wedi'ch galw chi ato'i hun yn berffaith lân. 16Dyna mae'r ysgrifau sanctaidd yn ei dweud: “Rhaid i chi fod yn sanctaidd am fy mod i yn sanctaidd.” b 17Mae Duw yn barnu pawb yn hollol deg ar sail beth maen nhw wedi ei wneud, Felly os dych chi'n galw Duw yn dad i chi, dylech roi iddo'r parch mae'n ei haeddu a byw fel pobl sydd oddi cartref yn y byd yma. 18Talodd Duw bris uchel i'ch gollwng chi'n rhydd o wagedd y ffordd o fyw gafodd ei phasio i lawr i chi gan eich hynafiaid. A dim pethau sy'n darfod fel arian ac aur gafodd eu defnyddio i dalu'r pris hwnnw, 19ond rhywbeth llawer mwy gwerthfawr – gwaed y Meseia, oen perffaith Duw oedd heb unrhyw nam arno. 20Roedd Duw wedi ei apwyntio cyn i'r byd gael ei greu, ond nawr yn y cyfnod olaf hwn daeth i'r byd a chael ei weld gan bobl. Gwnaeth hyn er eich mwyn chi. 21Trwy beth wnaeth e, dych chi wedi dod i gredu yn Nuw. Am fod Duw wedi ei godi yn ôl yn fyw a'i anrhydeddu, dych chi'n gallu trystio Duw yn llwyr, a rhoi'ch gobaith ynddo. 22Am eich bod chi bellach yn dilyn y gwir, ▼▼1:22 dilyn y gwir: Mae rhai llawysgrifau yn ychwanegu yn nerth yr Ysbryd.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
