(2 Cronicl 1:1-13) 1Dyma Solomon yn gwneud cytundeb gwleidyddol gyda'r Pharo, ▼▼3:1 y Pharo Siamwn falle (oedd yn teyrnasu o tua 976 i 974 CC). Mae'n enghraifft prin o ferch i'r Pharo yn cael priodi rhywun oedd ddim yn Eifftiwr.

Daeth â hi i fyw i ddinas Dafydd tra roedd yn gorffen adeiladu palas iddo'i hun, teml i'r Arglwydd a'r waliau o gwmpas Jerwsalem. 2Yr adeg yna, roedd y bobl yn dal i aberthu anifeiliaid ar allorau lleol am nad oedd teml i anrhydeddu'r Arglwydd wedi ei hadeiladu eto. 3Roedd Solomon yn caru'r Arglwydd ac yn dilyn yr un polisïau â'i dad, Dafydd. Er, roedd e hefyd yn aberthu anifeiliaid ac yn llosgi arogldarth wrth yr allorau lleol. 4Byddai'n mynd i Gibeon, am mai'r allor leol yno oedd yr un bwysicaf. Aberthodd fil o anifeiliaid yno, yn offrymau i'w llosgi'n llwyr. 5Yna un noson pan oedd yn Gibeon dyma Solomon yn cael breuddwyd. Gwelodd yr Arglwydd yn dod ato a gofyn iddo, “Beth wyt ti eisiau i mi ei roi i ti?” 6Atebodd Solomon, “Roeddet ti'n garedig iawn at Dafydd fy nhad wrth iddo fyw yn ffyddlon i ti, yn gywir ac yn onest. Ac rwyt ti wedi dal ati i fod yn arbennig o garedig drwy adael i mi, ei fab, fod yn frenin yn ei le. 7A nawr, Arglwydd, fy Nuw, ti wedi fy ngwneud i yn frenin yn lle fy nhad Dafydd. Ond dyn ifanc dibrofiad ydw i, 8a dyma fi yng nghanol y bobl rwyt ti wedi eu dewis. Mae yna gymaint ohonyn nhw mae'n amhosibl eu cyfrif nhw i gyd! 9Rho i mi'r gallu i wrando a deall, er mwyn i mi lywodraethu dy bobl di'n iawn, a gallu dweud y gwahaniaeth rhwng drwg a da. Fel arall, pa obaith sydd i unrhyw un lywodraethu cenedl mor fawr?” 10Roedd ateb Solomon a'r hyn roedd wedi gofyn amdano yn plesio yr Arglwydd yn fawr. 11A dyma Duw'n dweud wrtho, “Am mai dyna rwyt ti wedi gofyn amdano – y gallu i lywodraethu yn ddoeth – a dy fod ti ddim wedi gofyn am gael byw yn hir, neu am gyfoeth mawr, neu i dy elynion gael eu lladd, 12dw i'n mynd roi'r hyn rwyt ti eisiau i ti. Dw i'n mynd i dy wneud di'n fwy doeth a deallus nag unrhyw un ddaeth o dy flaen neu ddaw ar dy ôl. 13Ond dw i hefyd yn mynd i roi i ti beth wnest ti ddim gofyn amdano, cyfoeth ac anrhydedd. Fydd yna ddim brenin tebyg i ti tra byddi byw. 14Ac os byddi di'n byw yn ufudd i mi ac yn cadw fy rheolau i fel roedd dy dad Dafydd yn gwneud, bydda i'n rhoi oes hir i ti.” 15Yna dyma Solomon yn deffro a sylweddoli ei fod wedi bod yn breuddwydio. Dyma fe'n mynd i Jerwsalem a sefyll o flaen Arch ymrwymiad yr Arglwydd. Cyflwynodd offrymau i'w llosgi ac offrymau i ofyn am fendith yr Arglwydd, a cynnal gwledd i'w swyddogion i gyd. 16Yn fuan wedyn, dyma ddwy ferch yn mynd at y brenin. Roedden nhw'n buteiniaid. 17Dyma un o'r merched yn dweud, “Syr, dw i a'r ferch yma yn byw yn yr un tŷ. Ces i fabi tra roedden ni gyda'n gilydd yn y tŷ. 18Yna dridiau wedyn dyma hithau'n cael babi. Doedd yna neb arall yn y tŷ, dim ond ni'n dwy. 19Un noson dyma ei mab hi'n marw; roedd hi wedi gorwedd arno. 20Cododd yn y nos a chymryd fy mab i oedd wrth fy ymyl tra roeddwn i'n cysgu. Cymrodd fy mab i i'w chôl a rhoi ei phlentyn marw hi yn fy mreichiau i. 21Pan wnes i ddeffro yn y bore i fwydo'r babi, roedd e wedi marw. Ond wrth edrych yn fanwl, dyma fi'n sylweddoli mai nid fy mab i oedd e.” 22Yna dyma'r ferch arall yn dweud, “Na! Fy mab i ydy'r un byw. Dy fab di sydd wedi marw.” A dyma'r gyntaf yn ateb “Nage, yr un marw ydy dy fab di. Fy mab i ydy'r un byw.” Roedd y ddwy ohonyn nhw'n dadlau â'i gilydd fel hyn o flaen y brenin. 23Yna dyma'r brenin yn dweud, “Mae un ohonoch chi'n dweud, ‘Fy mab i ydy hwn; mae dy fab di wedi marw’, a'r llall yn dweud, ‘Na! Dy fab di sydd wedi marw; fy mab i ydy'r un byw.’” 24Yna dyma'r brenin yn gorchymyn i'w weision, “Dewch â chleddyf i mi.” A dyma nhw'n dod ag un iddo. 25Wedyn dyma'r brenin yn dweud, “Torrwch y plentyn byw yn ei hanner, a rhowch hanner bob un iddyn nhw.” 26Ond dyma fam y plentyn byw yn ymateb (achos roedd hi'n torri ei chalon wrth feddwl am y plentyn yn cael ei ladd). Dyma hi'n dweud wrth y brenin, “Syr, rho'r plentyn byw iddi hi. Da chi paid â'i ladd e.” Ond roedd y llall yn dweud, “Os nad ydw i'n ei gael e, gei di mohono chwaith – rhannwch e!” 27A dyma'r brenin yn dweud, “Rhowch y plentyn byw i'r wraig gyntaf. Peidiwch ei ladd e. Hi ydy'r fam.” 28Pan glywodd pobl Israel am y ffordd roedd y brenin wedi setlo'r achos, roedden nhw'n rhyfeddu. Roedden nhw'n gweld fod Duw wedi rhoi doethineb anghyffredin iddo allu barnu fel yma.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
