Dafydd yn pechu drwy gyfri ei filwyr
(2 Samuel 24:1-17) 1Dyma satan yn codi yn erbyn Israel, a gwneud i Dafydd gyfri faint o filwyr oedd gan Israel. 2Felly dyma'r brenin yn dweud wrth Joab ac arweinwyr ei fyddin, “Dw i eisiau i chi gyfri faint o filwyr sydd yn Israel, o Beersheba yn y de i Dan yn y gogledd. Yna adrodd yn ôl i mi gael gwybod faint ohonyn nhw sydd.” 3Ond dyma Joab yn ei ateb, “O na fyddai'r Arglwydd yn gwneud y fyddin ganwaith yn fwy! Ond fy mrenin, syr, ydyn nhw ddim i gyd yn gwasanaethu fy meistr? Pam wyt ti eisiau gwneud y fath beth? Pam gwneud Israel yn euog?” 4Ond y brenin gafodd ei ffordd, a dyma Joab yn teithio drwy Israel i gyd, cyn dod yn ôl i Jerwsalem. 5Yna dyma Joab yn rhoi canlyniadau'r cyfrifiad i Dafydd. Roedd yna un pwynt un miliwn o ddynion Israel allai ymladd yn y fyddin – pedwar cant saith deg mil yn Jwda yn unig. 6Wnaeth Joab ddim cyfri llwythau Lefi a Benjamin, am ei fod yn anhapus iawn gyda gorchymyn y brenin. 7Roedd y peth wedi digio Duw hefyd, felly dyma fe'n cosbi Israel. 8Dyma Dafydd yn dweud wrth Dduw, “Dw i wedi pechu'n ofnadwy drwy wneud hyn. Plîs wnei di faddau i mi? Dw i wedi gwneud peth gwirion.” 9Dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud wrth Gad, proffwyd Dafydd: 10“Dos i ddweud wrth Dafydd, ‘Dyma mae'r Arglwydd yn ei ddweud: Dw i'n rhoi tri dewis i ti. Dewis pa un wyt ti am i mi ei wneud.’” 11Felly dyma Gad yn mynd at Dafydd a dweud wrtho, “Dyma mae'r Arglwydd yn ei ddweud: ‘Dewis un o'r rhain – 12Tair blynedd o newyn, tri mis o gael eich erlid gan eich gelynion a'ch lladd mewn rhyfel, neu dri diwrnod o gael eich taro gan yr Arglwydd, pan fydd haint yn lledu trwy'r wlad ac angel yr Arglwydd yn lladd pobl drwy dir Israel i gyd.’ Meddwl yn ofalus cyn dweud wrtho i pa ateb dw i i'w roi i'r un sydd wedi f'anfon i.” 13Dyma Dafydd yn ateb Gad, “Mae'n ddewis caled! Ond mae'r Arglwydd mor drugarog! Byddai'n well gen i gael fy nghosbi ganddo fe na gan ddynion.” 14Felly dyma'r Arglwydd yn anfon pla ar wlad Israel, a buodd saith deg mil o bobl farw. 15Dyma Duw yn anfon angel i ddinistrio Jerwsalem. Ond wrth iddo wneud hynny, dyma'r Arglwydd yn teimlo'n sori am y niwed. Dyma fe'n rhoi gorchymyn i'r angel oedd wrthi'n difa'r bobl, “Dyna ddigon! Stopia nawr!” (Ar y pryd roedd yr angel yn sefyll wrth ymyl llawr dyrnu Ornan y Jebwsiad.) 16Dyma Dafydd yn gweld angel yr Arglwydd yn sefyll rhwng y ddaear a'r awyr a'r cleddyf yn ei law yn pwyntio at Jerwsalem. A dyma Dafydd a'r arweinwyr, oedd yn gwisgo sachliain, yn plygu a'u hwynebau ar lawr. 17A dyma Dafydd yn gweddïo ar Dduw, “Onid fi wnaeth benderfynu cyfri'r milwyr? Fi sydd wedi pechu a gwneud y drwg ofnadwy yma! Wnaeth y bobl ddiniwed ▼▼21:17 bobl ddiniwed Hebraeg, “defaid”
yma ddim byd o'i le. O Arglwydd Dduw, cosba fi a'm teulu, a symud y pla oddi wrth dy bobl.” Dafydd yn codi allor
(2 Samuel 24:18-25) 18Felly dyma angel yr Arglwydd yn anfon Gad i ddweud wrth Dafydd am fynd i godi allor i'r Arglwydd ar lawr dyrnu Ornan y Jebwsiad. 19Felly dyma Dafydd yn mynd a gwneud beth roedd yr Arglwydd wedi gofyn i Gad ei ddweud ar ei ran. 20Roedd Ornan wrthi'n dyrnu ŷd pan drodd a gweld yr angel, a dyma fe a'i bedwar mab yn mynd i guddio. 21Yna dyma Ornan yn gweld Dafydd yn dod ato, a dyma fe'n dod allan o'r llawr dyrnu ac yn ymgrymu o flaen Dafydd â'i wyneb ar lawr. 22A dyma Dafydd yn dweud wrth Ornan, “Dw i eisiau i ti werthu'r llawr dyrnu i mi, er mwyn i mi godi allor i'r Arglwydd – gwna i dalu'r pris llawn i ti – i stopio'r pla yma ladd y bobl.” 23Dyma Ornan yn dweud wrth Dafydd, “Syr, cymer e, a gwneud beth bynnag wyt ti eisiau. Cymer yr ychen i'w llosgi'n aberth, a defnyddia'r sled dyrnu'n goed tân, a'r gwenith yn offrwm o rawn. Cymer y cwbl.” 24Ond dyma'r brenin Dafydd yn ateb Ornan, “Na, mae'n rhaid i mi dalu'r pris llawn i ti. Dw i ddim yn mynd i gyflwyno dy eiddo di yn offrwm i'r Arglwydd, neu aberthau i'w llosgi sydd wedi costio dim byd i mi.” 25Felly dyma Dafydd yn prynu'r lle gan Ornan am chwe chan darn aur. 26Wedyn adeiladodd allor i'r Arglwydd yno, a chyflwyno arni aberthau i'w llosgi ac offrymau i gydnabod daioni'r Arglwydd. A dyma'r Arglwydd yn ymateb drwy anfon tân i lawr o'r awyr a llosgi y aberth ar yr allor. 27Dyma'r Arglwydd yn gorchymyn i'r angel gadw ei gleddyf. 28Pan welodd Dafydd fod yr Arglwydd wedi ateb ei weddi ar lawr dyrnu Ornan y Jebwsiad, dyma fe'n llosgi aberth yno. 29Yr adeg honno, roedd Tabernacl yr Arglwydd, (yr un roedd Moses wedi ei hadeiladu yn yr anialwch) a'r allor i losgi aberthau arni, wrth yr allor leol yn Gibeon. 30Ond doedd Dafydd ddim yn gallu mynd yno i ofyn am arweiniad Duw am fod arno ofn cleddyf angel yr Arglwydd.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
